A Parlier City Council member was arrested Sunday on a variety of charges, including assault to commit rape – and then was arrested again later in the day.
Noe Rodriguez, 37, was arrested in Reedley, where his female acquaintance lives, said Ron Manfredi, Parlier city manager.
Rodriguez and the alleged victim had been in a dating relationship for the past two years, Reedley police reported, and had been living together for about seven months.
Rodriguez, who was booked on a count of spousal abuse and the sexual assault count, was released on bond from Fresno County Jail on Sunday, according to Fresno County Jail records. He was also served with an emergency protection order against the alleged victim, Reedley police reported.
At about 1:24 p.m. Sunday, Rodriguez was pulled over in Reedley and was with the alleged victim. He was arrested again in violation of the emergency protection order.
“The charges are shocking and it doesn’t seem to fit his character,” said Ron Manfredi, Parlier city manager. “To me, he is a very appropriate, thoughtful and respectful man.”
