A gang member with a semi-automatic pistol in his shorts was arrested by police Tuesday night in southwest Fresno, police reported.
The arrest took place about 7:20 p.m. as officers working a gang suppression detail spotted Maurice Brown, 21, walk out of a store at Elm and Rev. Chester Riggins avenues. Sgt. Brian Valles said detectives recognized Brown, and Brown recognized detectives. He began to walk away, but detectives noticed that Brown had a bulge in the front of his shorts, so they detained him. During a search, the Ruger semi-automatic was recovered.
Valles said that Brown is a Lee Street gang member and is prohibited from possessing firearms. He was booked on weapons charges.
