A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition Tuesday after he was shot during an argument in southwest Fresno, police said.
Fresno police Lt. Steve Card said the shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. at California and Lee avenues, about two blocks away from Edison High School. Card did not know if the victim was a student.
Card said the boy was involved in some sort of argument with another person, described as a Hispanic male in his teens, when the suspect fired several shots. One hit the boy in the face. The boy had another family member with him who was not hurt.
The suspect was described as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet, wearing a white long sleeve shirt and gray sweatpants. Police believe the two teens may have known each other, and the crime may be gang-related. Both were traveling on foot.
The area was closed to traffic for several hours.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-6100.
