83-year-old man headed to breakfast with his wife killed in Orosi hit-and-run

An 83-year-old man walking across Highway 63 in Orosi was killed in a hit-and-run early Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, the man, who was not identified, and his wife were headed to the Memorial Hall in the center of town for breakfast. Just after 6:15 a.m. they were crossing Highway 63 at Miller Avenue. The woman was just ahead of her husband when he was hit in the northbound No. 2 lane by a car traveling at an unknown speed.

CHP alerted Orange Cove and Reedley police to be on the lookout for the hit-and-run vehicle, described by witnesses as a dark-colored sedan, make and model unknown.

No other details were immediately available.
