A Fresno man faces a potential prison sentence of 1,556 years for raping a girl repeatedly over a period of five years, the District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Rene Lopez, 41, was found guilty Thursday in Superior Court of 186 felony counts of sexual assault, including rape of a minor, prosecutor Nicole Galstan said.
Lopez will be sentenced Oct. 21.
The crimes happened from 2009 to 2013. Lopez has been in jail since November 2013. He is being held without bail and has an immigration hold.
In prosecuting the case, Galstan, who was assisted by senior investigator Stacy Cordero, thanked Fresno police detectives Thaoseng Xiong and Diana Trueba “for their work on this case in obtaining justice for this victim while ensuring that this sexual offender will never be able to victimize again.”
