Mendota wins D-VI title
Top-seeded Mendota captured the first Central Section baseball title in school history with a 12-8 victory against No. 2 McFarland. Alfredo Muratalla, Rene Rodriguez and Lorenzo Rodriguez powered an 11-hit attack with two hits apiece. Muratalla scored twice while the Rodriguezes each knocked in two runs. Winning pitcher Raymond Valenzuela added a triple and two runs, and Joel Placencia doubled and drove in two runs for the Aztecs.
Jimmy Jurado (9-2) pitched a six-hitter, Blake Lacey hit a three-run homer and Chris Garcia also had three RBIs as No. 4 Clovis defeated No. 5 Clovis West 8-4 in a D-I quarterfinal.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Nate Navarrete lined a two-run double over the center fielder's head to lift No. 3 Central to a 9-8 victory against No. 6 El Diamante in D-I. The Miners had pulled ahead, 8-7, with four runs in the top of the inning. Jordan Brink homered twice for Central, which will visit No. 2 Centennial on Wednesday.

E.J. Lopez's infield single with two outs scored Kevin Deaver with what proved to be the winning run as No. 7 Edison ousted No. 1 Madera 4-3 in D-II.
Mike Conway hit a two-run double in the first for the only runs his team would need, then led off the fourth with a triple and scored on Frank Santillan's single for an insurance run as No. 6 Hanford upset No. 3 Memorial 3-1 in D-II.
Ryan Beavers' two-run single keyed a three-run first inning, and Anthony Valle pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts as No. 2 Madera South beat No. 7 Kingsburg 4-1 in D-III.
Sean Borba pitched a complete-game with nine strikeouts and collected two hits to lead No. 4 Hanford West to a 5-2 win over No. 12 Tehachapi in D-III.
James Berry's two-run single highlighted a five-run sixth inning and Roman Ortiz pitched a two-hitter as No. 7 Selma upset No. 2 Fowler 9-3 in D-IV.
Ryan Neufeld opened the fifth inning with a double, stole third and scored the tying run on an error, then Cooper Belmont walked, stole second, reached third on a passed ball and scored on Justin Wilson's sacrifice fly to lift No. 6 Fresno Christian to a 5-4 win over No. 3 Caruthers in D-V.
Julio Marquez's run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth lifted No. 4 Exeter over No. 5 Firebaugh 8-7 in D-V.
