Clovis West baseball tops Buchanan in 10 innings

Buchanan High rose to No. 5 in a national ranking only to be chopped down by Clovis West in dramatic fashion Tuesday.

Tyler Ferguson gave up one hit and four hits, struck out nine in eight innings and hit an RBI double, and Nick Mcallaster smashed a go-ahead two-run homer in the 10th inning as the Golden Eagles defeated the host Bears 4-1.

Having split two games in the Tri-River Athletic Conference, the teams will play again Friday in a 6:30 p.m. start at Clovis West (13-4, 5-3).

Buchanan (16-2, 7-1) entered Tuesday's game ranked No. 1 in the Central Section, No. 2 in the state and No. 5 nationally by ESPN RISE.
