THE BUZZ

Stockdale lost to Central Section opponent for this first time this season Friday, falling 3-2 against Centennial on sophomore Lauren Cowden's two-run, walk-off home run off UC Davis-bound Justine Vela. But the Mustangs will receive a mulligan in these rankings because they outscored the Golden Hawks 17-1 in three previous wins this year, including a 1-0 victory Wednesday. Buchanan leapfrogs back in front of Clovis West after beating the Golden Eagles 11-0 on Saturday in the final of the Arroyo Grande Tournament.

Upon further review of appeals from the section office, Woodlake is D-V, not D-IV as reported last week. And with a 6-4 win over Lindsay last week, the Tigers appear to be the top challenger to defending division champion Liberty-Madera Ranchos.
