THE BUZZ

Most Central Section observers agree: Buchanan and Stockdale – the teams that have met for the last two Division I titles, with each winning once – are the teams to beat again. Buchanan returns the majority of its team from last year, including Bee Player of the Year Kelsey Dodd (1B), All-Bee selections Amani Proctor (OF/P) and Bailey O'Dell (SS), and second-teamer Natalie Rendon (P). Stockdale returns the player who matters most, ace pitcher Justine Vela, who shut Buchanan out for 15 innings last season for a 1-0 win in the final.

Another team that returns virtually intact is Hanford West, a Division III team that many believe is as good as any in the section. The key returners for the Huskies are All-Bee pick Breanna Young (P/1B) and second-teamer Bria Kennedy (OF).

Defending section champions are: Stockdale (D-I), Lemoore (D-II), Hanford West (D-III), Washington (D-IV), Liberty-Madera Ranchos (D-V) and Kings Christian (D-VI).
