Basketball highlights from Feb. 15


William Stallworth scored 52 points to power Tulare, ranked fifth in the Central Section by The Bee, to a 95-68 win over Mission Oak that secured the Redskins' third straight East Yosemite League title. Tulare will continue its suspended game at Monache from Feb. 8 – when Keonta Vernon's dunk broke the backboard – at 6 p.m. Friday.

Grant Verhoeven had 16 points, 24 rebounds and seven blocks as No. 7 Central Valley Christian beat Selma 64-43 and improved to 23-2 overall and 11-0 in the Central Sequoia League.

Jalen Watson scored 15 points to help Mt. Whitney pull into a tie for first place in the West Yosemite League with a 68-61 win over Hanford. The Pioneers share the WYL lead with Hanford West at 10-1, each with one game left to play.


Madison Parrish had 21 points, 11 assists and five steals, as No. 1-ranked Hanford beat Mt. Whitney 95-19 for its 59th straight West Yosemite League win, three days after losing 79-47 to No. 8 nationally ranked Saint Mary's-Stockton.

Katie Ogdon scored eight of her 21 points in the first quarter as No. 4 Clovis West bolted to a 26-7 lead, coasted to a 60-47 Tri-River Athletic Conference win at Central and gathered steam for a league title showdown at home Friday against No. 3 Clovis. The Golden Eagles have won five straight TRAC championships.

Clovis, seeking its first league title in 13 years, received 28 points from Brianna Watson and 19 from Samantha Earl to win 64-55 at Clovis North.

Miyah Rollins scored 19 points as Hoover clinched at least a share of the North Yosemite League title with a 39-31 win over Reedley.
