Clovis North wrestler earns top honor at Huerta tourney

Clovis North High 130-pound wrestler Chris Calcagno was named the MVP lowerweight to help the Broncos finish third at the Raul Huerta Memorial in Canyon Springs.

Calcagno captured his weight class with a pin in 3:39 over Bakersfield's Natrelle Demison, to cap a run that featured four pins and one technical fall. Clovis North, which finished behind champion Bakersfield and Poway in the team standings with 161 points, also received a title from 125-pounder Vince Rodriguez, who pinned Poway's Justin Chua in 1:56 in the final.

Other placers for the Broncos included Tyler Moore (second at 103), Devin Poindexter (third at 145), Josh Karam (seventh at 160), Jordan Pyzer (seventh at 189) and Carson Guzman (eighth at 140).
