Basketball highlights from Dec. 20

BOYS BASKETBALL

Richie Tesmer scored 20 points and Ethan Lennox added 17 as Clovis North pulled ahead of Bullard in the fourth quarter for a 68-63 quarterfinal win at the Holiday Invitational Tournament.

Grant Verhoeven nearly outscored Kennedy-Richmond by himself, finishing with 39 points in a 75-44 Cavaliers' victory at the HIT.

Adam Gamboa made eight 3-pointers -- including five straight in Lindsay's 25-point third quarter -- and finished with 29 points in the Cardinals' 72-64 win over Mission Oak at the Tulare Holiday Classic.

William Stallworth scored 37 points as Tulare rolled past Mt. Whitney 59-44 at the THC.

Ryan Yriarte sank four 3-pointers en route to scoring 17 points as Dos Palos edged Coalinga 53-52 at the Mendota Tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Katie Ogdon scored 20 points but Clovis West committed a couple of key turnovers down the stretch as Sacramento took the lead and held on for a 50-46 victory in the Blue Division of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. Sacramento, the Sac-Joaquin Section and NorCal D-III runners-up a year ago, were No. 19 in Cal-Hi Sports' preseason state Top 25.
