Clovis High wins wrestling tournament

With five wrestlers winning their weight divisions, Clovis easily outdistanced Golden Valley 246-177 for the team title at the 21-team The Grizz tournament Saturday at Central.

Daniel Gaytan (125), Juan Salas (135), Brady Bersano (145), Zach Nevills (189) and Nick Nevills (285) all won their weight divisions for the Cougars.

Other local champions included: Central's Adrian Campasano (103), Clovis West's Mikey Knoblauch (112), Lemoore's Silverio Esparza (119), Clovis West's Chris Garcia (130), Central's Mason Esqueda (140) and Clovis West's Yusuf Robinson (152).

Clovis West swimmer Mackenzie Schuler signed a letter-of-intent with Texas Christian, where she will compete starting in the fall 2011.

Schuler, a two-time All-Bee swimmer, has been a part of three Central Section championship teams heading into her senior season.

Schuler has achieved All-American status in the 200 and 500 freestyle as well as the 200 and 400 free relays, and is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
