Central Area champion Nate Jessup of Porterville and North Area winner Bryson DeChambeau of Clovis East are among the top competitors in the field for the Central Section Individual Golf Championships, which tee off at 10 a.m. today at Dinuba's Ridge Creek Golf Club.
Jessup finished in a four-way tie for second last year with an even-par 72 at Bakersfield's Seven Oaks Country Club and qualified for the Southern California Regionals. Jessup won the Central Area tournament May 11 at Hanford's Kings Country Club with a 3-under 69.
DeChambeau also qualified for SoCal Regionals last year, shooting a 75 during the Individual Championships after placing second in the North Area. DeChambeau won area this year with a 1-under 71 at Madera Municipal on May 10.
Other returning section and SoCal Regional qualifiers from last season include Porterville's Mikey McGinn and Lemoore's Cody Neal, who shot 72 and 74, respectively, at the Central Area tournament.

Clovis West qualified a tournament-best five players: Troy Sweeney, Brian Waterhouse, Matt Swindle, Grant Yamaguchi and Taylor Fallahsafa.
Section team champion Bullard has three players in the field: Tanner Manser, Michael Tolladay, and Brandon Stites.
