Boys team outlook: Buchanan has a major obstacle in Redwood, which is pursuing its first boys crown since 1948. The Rangers are balanced, featuring Idarre Coles in the high jump (6-9), triple jump (45-01/2) and 100 (10.90); K.C. Pearce in the 100 (10.83); Dillon Root in the 100 (10.87), 200 (22.09) and long jump (23-31/4); and Justin Vilhauer in the 1600 (4:11.2) and 3200 (9:13.99).
Defending girls team champion: Clovis
Girls team outlook: A year after edging Buchanan by a point, Clovis is banking on another 40 points from Prandini, but a lot of help will be required to compete with Clovis West's depth.
