Playoff highlights from May 19


Kelsey Pastenieks struck out 10 in a complete game and belted a two-run homer to power No. 7 Clovis East to a 5-2 win against No. 10 Bakersfield in the first round of the Division I playoffs.

Lauren Crow struck out five in a complete game to lead No. 11 Tulare to a 2-1 victory against No. 6 Sanger in D-II.

Kim Smith had eight strikeouts and allowed just three hits as No. 10 Golden West defeated No. 7 Memorial 2-1 in D-II.

Chelsey Lundsford's solo homer in the sixth proved the winner as No. 8 Dinuba beat No. 9 Independence 4-3 in D-III.

Charsalle Strickland, Stevie Underwood, and Cynthia Villarreal each drove in two runs as No. 9 McLane downed No. 8 Granite Hills 9-3 in D-IV. McLane finished with 12 hits, led by Elizabeth Vasquez's 3-for-3 outing. The Highlanders scored six runs in the fifth inning alone, four with two outs.

Jenna Dunbar's two-run double highlighted a six-run fourth in No. 10 Mission Prep's 9-7 win over No. 7 Lindsay in D-V. Ally Kersthold drove in four runs and earned the save in relief. Sammy Jauregui went 4 for 5 with three runs for Lindsay.
