Playoff highlights from May 18


Jordan Brink was the winning pitcher, and helped his own cause by going 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead No. 10 Central to a 4-2 upset of No. 7 Clovis East in the Division I playoffs. The Timberwolves stranded 10 runners.

Brent Hall doubled and knocked in two runs, and top-seeded Golden West took advantage of six errors by No. 16 Hoover in a 10-6 victory in Division II.

Top-seeded Clovis North got a single, double, home run and four runs from Chris Mariscal in a 9-1 Division III win over Golden Valley.

Devin Lee led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a double, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch to lift No. 7 Dinuba to a 7-6 extra-innings win over No. 10 Madera South in Division III.

Mark Mendoza tossed a five-hitter, striking out five -- and contributed two hits and an RBI at the plate -- as No. 7 Washington beat No. 10 Sierra 5-1 in Division IV.

Solomon Ramirez singled in the tying run, and Travis Martin's two-run double put No. 8 Dos Palos ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning of its 6-5 win over Immanuel in Division IV.
