Spring sports roundup 5/12

BOYS TENNIS

El Diamante players Josh Lorentzen and Ryan Andrada received the top two singles seeds, respectively, for the Central Section Individual Championships, which start Saturday in Bakersfield. Clovis' Andrew Combs is seeded No. 3 in singles. The Clovis West team of Vincent Paganetti and Stefan Loop earned the top seed in doubles. The team playoffs begin today with 12 matches across the section's six divisions.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Tyler Ash had 32 kills and 25 assists as No. 7 Madera topped city rival and 10th-seeded Madera South 27-29, 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 in the first round of the Division I playoffs. The Coyotes advance to face No. 2 Buchanan on Thursday. The Division II playoffs begin May 19.
