BALLS, BATS AND BUZZ

The Central Section baseball seedings will be determined Saturday morning at commissioner Jim Crichlow's office in Porterville.

Can only wonder what Madera would have done in any league other than the Tri-River Athletic Conference, where the Coyotes are in last place at 2-11. And this is after their 7-5 win Friday at nationally top-ranked Clovis West behind James Brager's five-hitter and 12 strikeouts. This wasn't a great surprise for a junior right-hander who lost 2-1 and 3-0 to Buchanan earlier.

Baseball America, which ranked Clovis West No. 1 two weeks ago, is expected to release new rankings today. The Golden Eagles, who can clinch outright the TRAC title tonight at home with a win over Clovis, remained No. 2 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.

Today's game-of-the-day in the section sends Fowler (19-4-2, 5-1) to Fresno Christian (19-4, 6-0) in the West Sequoia League.
