Cal Baptist's Blair Penner, a 2006 Clovis West High graduate, was named the NAIA men's volleyball Player of the Year.
Penner is the first ever NAIA Player of the Year named by the AVCA. On Monday, he was named to the inaugural AVCA/NAIA All-America team.
As a captain, Penner led the Lancers to their seventh NAIA national invitational title last week, earning all-tournament honors. The junior setter had 1,423 assists this season, 146 digs and 58 blocks and 57 service aces.
"Blair was the difference at nationals for us," Cal Baptist coach Ryan McGuyre said. "He was our one steady guy this year from start to finish."
