Highlights from April 6

BASEBALL

Immanuel's Jeff Jantzen earned MVP of his school's tournament after throwing a six-hitter and collecting two hits in a 3-2 championship game victory against Lindsay. Kyler Boucher had the winning RBI in the top of the eighth, and Scott Findley also homered.

Drew Merlo (8-0) pitched a six-hitter, and Jack Karracker had two extra-base hits and three RBIs as top-ranked Buchanan beat No. 7 Clovis East 8-2 to pull into a three-way tie for first in the Tri-River Athletic Conference at 3-1 with the Timberwolves and No. 2 Clovis West.

Brandon Jeffries had four hits, including a homer and four RBIs to help El Diamante beat No. 6-ranked Hanford 12-6 in the West Yosemite League.

Chowchilla senior left-hander Tyler Cook beat Dos Palos 7-1, going the distance with 12 strikeouts. Cook improved to 3-0 with his 23rd career victory.

SOFTBALL

Jordan Yates pitched a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts in Kerman's 3-2 win over Sanger and a sweep of a doubleheader. Chelsea Weber's five-hitter with eight strikeouts in Game 2 helped Kerman, the top-ranked team in Division IV and now 16-1, to a 3-1 victory.
