Nick Fisher, formerly of Clovis West High, is one of five Cal Poly wrestlers who advanced to the NCAA Championships, which begin Thursday in Omaha, Neb.
Fisher, who went 17-6 and took second in the Pac-10, will face Purdue's Nicholas Bertucci in the first round in a rematch from earlier this season.
Bertucci, who is 24-17 and placed eighth in the Big Ten championships at 149 pounds, lost to Fisher earlier in the year at the Missouri Open.
Both wrestlers are unseeded and unranked. The winner likely will face top-seeded Lance Palmer of Ohio State in the second round.
