THE BUZZ

Hanford is eighth in Cal-Hi Sports' overall state rankings and third behind Brea Olinda-Brea (23-2) and Mater Dei-Santa Ana (24-1) in D-II. Brea Olinda and Mater Dei also are ranked Nos. 2-3 in the overall rankings behind the nation's No. 1 St. Mary's-Stockton (24-1). Hanford is on a collision course with either Brea Olinda or Mater Dei in the Southern California Regional.

Yosemite is No. 7 in the state's D-II.

Clovis West is 13th in the state overall rankings and No. 4 in D-I behind Long Beach Poly (21-2), Santiago-Corona (23-2) and Berkeley (19-3).

Hand it to Clovis senior forward Nikki Chapple for career endurance. She played on 5-24 and 11-17 teams as a freshman and sophomore, but 20-14 and 22-6 since coach Steve Perkovich took over the program.
