THE BUZZ

A matchup between arguably the section's premier players -- Clovis East point guard Robert Sandoval and Central wing Rakim Brown -- is in question tonight on the Timberwolves' floor after Sandoval missed his team's 48-40 win at Clovis on Friday with a sprained ankle. "I would guess he'll play, but I don't want to push it with the playoffs two weeks away," said coach Tim Amundsen of defending Tri-River Athletic Conference champion Clovis East (6-0), which leads Central (5-1) and Buchanan (4-2) with three league games remaining after tonight.

What a sprint to the finish in both the County/Metro Athletic Conference (Edison, Hoover and Bullard each 5-1) and North Yosemite League (Sunnyside, Memorial and Madera South each 5-1). Biggies this week: Edison at Bullard tonight and Memorial at Sunnyside on Thursday.
