Local briefs: Monsters add player

The original story incorrectly reported the series against San Diego as Friday through Sunday, reading as it were this weekend. The series will be Friday through Sunday, January 15-17. Also, Saturday is the night players wear pink jerseys, not Friday.

The Fresno Monsters acquired centerman Trevor Tracy from the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League.

Tracy, a 6-foot-3, 215-pounder, began the season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League.

Fresno will host the San Diego Gulls in a series Friday through Sunday, January 15-17. Players will wear pink jerseys Saturday and auction them off afterward to benefit the Mary Kay Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Wrestling event coming

California USA Wrestling will hold four youth state tournaments at Selland Arena and Valdez Hall in 2010-12.

About 4,500 wrestlers ages 7-18 will compete in folkstyle, frosh/soph folkstyle, cadet and freestyle championships.

The Fresno Sports Council estimated the tournaments will generate about $5 million into the economy for local businesses.
