Local briefs: Rams 2nd at golf tourney

Canada College won the Central Valley Conference women's golf tournament at Lemoore Golf Course, beating Fresno City by six strokes. West Hills and Reedley were tied for third.

Canada's June Lee posted the round's lowest score with a 1-over 73. Fresno's Lauren Marlow was six strokes back at 7-over 79, followed by West Hills' Kelsey Acala at 11-over 83.

Fresno City's wrestling team improved to 2-0 by pinning Chabot 37-9.

Local shooter on target

Katherine Spolsdoff, a Fresno State freshman and former Clovis West High basketball player, won both the Junior and Women's titles last weekend at the International Defensive Pistol Association state championships in Richmond. At 18, she is the youngest shooter in contest history to win the Women's title.

Martial arts: James Sheu of the Clovis Judo Club placed second at the Sacramento Judo Club Invitational Tournament on Sunday.

Rugby: The Fresno State Rugby Club hosts San Jose State for two matches Saturday at Fresno Regional Sports Park (1707 W. Jensen Ave.). Game times are at 1 and 2:30 p.m.
