Top-ranked Buchanan won an important showdown with Bullard last week as it prepares for the Durango Invitational, which starts Thursday in Las Vegas. Chloe Ferrari and Sarah Horton continue to impress.

Clovis West went 7-1 at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix last weekend, losing to Desert Vista-Phoenix in the finals but beating a couple of nationally ranked teams along the way. The Golden Eagles also are headed for the Durango Invitational.

Central Valley Christian struck an early blow for Division IV superiority with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-15 victory Saturday over defending division champion Bakersfield Christian, earning the sweep on the road.

Fresno Christian placed second at the Coast Union tournament over the weekend, going 7-2, including two wins over the host Broncos, the Division V runner-up last season.
