Dinuba hands first loss to Panthers baseball

Vince Delgado homered as Dinuba handed Washington (18-1) its first loss of the season Saturday, 5-3 at the Fowler Easter Classic.

The Emperors are 2-0 in the event, as is Kingsburg, which received a double and homer from Tyler Bray in a 5-0 win over Fowler. Also, Christian Larragoitiy homered and was the winning pitcher in Dos Palos' 1-0 victory over Caruthers.

Brian Garcia pitched a no-hitter against Strathmore to help Roosevelt to two victories, and Matt Vasquez was the winning pitcher in one game and collected four hits and two RBIs in another as Firebaugh also won twice at the Strathmore Tournament.


Fresno, Liberty-Madera Ranchos and Sanger went 2-0 in pool play at the Kerman Easter Classic. Liyah Samuela's double knocked in the winning runs as Fresno beat Dos Palos 10-8. Fresno also beat Corcoran 8-4. Kayla Barber won twice, including a two-hit shutout as Liberty-Madera Ranchos beat Dos Palos 8-1 and Madera South 3-0. Serena Sanchez pitched a three-hit shutout in Sanger's 3-0 victory over McLane and Sanchez had two hits in a 5-1 win over Firebaugh. The tournament continues with pool play Monday and the championship game is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Bailey O'Dell drove in the winning run with an infield single to score MaryBeth Williams in the seventh as Buchanan beat El Diamante 3-2 and cap a 2-0 opening day at the Clovis Easter Classic. Also, behind pitcher Adriana Bencomo, Bullard is 2-0 with a 5-2 win over El Diamante and a 7-6 victory over Redwood. Hanford West also is 2-0, as Breanna Young pitched a four-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Chowchilla and Bria Kennedy had two hits in the Huskies' 5-3 win over Clovis West.

Cassie Manning won twice to lead Lindsay to a 2-0 mark through the first day of the Fowler Easter Classic.
