Clovis Community College seeks new president

The search is on for Clovis Community College’s next president.

Applicants have until 5 p.m. March 24 to submit their resumes, letters of interest and references to fill the position that will be left vacant following current president Debbie J. Ikeda’s retirement.

The State Center Community College District is holding a national search for the school’s new leader.

“We’re casting a very wide net,” said SCCCD vice chancellor of human resources Diane Cleron. “We’re advertising in all kinds of minority publications, national state and local publications and The Chronicle of Higher Education.”

A 17-member search advisory committee is being assembled; the group’s job will be to interview each candidate and select finalists for the position. The new president will begin July 17.

“Debbie Ikeda has done a wonderful job in helping Clovis Community become a college and not a center,” Cleron said. “We certainly want someone who will take what she has done — and what the faculty, staff and students have done there — and take it to the next level. Hopefully there are good things in store for Clovis.”
