Mother, child displaced by Clovis condo fire

A Clovis mother and child were displaced when the condominium in which they live caught fire Wednesday morning.

According to Clovis Fire Department, nobody was home when the fire was reported at 8:44 a.m. in the Montage condominiums, 2100 Herndon Ave., west of Armstrong Avenue. Firefighters contained the blaze by 8:55 a.m.

The home was seriously damaged, said Chad Fitzgerald, Clovis Fire Department spokesman. Two other condominiums were damaged by water, he said.

A cost estimate of the damage had not been established and the cause of the fire was not yet known.

Two dogs were rescued from adjacent condominiums and a fish tank was removed from the condominium that caught fire, Fitzgerald said.

The American Red Cross was assisting with finding shelter for the condominium's residents.
