A 19-year-old man kicked open the front door of his family's home in Clovis and pointed a locked shotgun at his mother this afternoon, police said.
The man was not arrested because the mother did not want to file a criminal complaint, police said. But the man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for evaluation.
No one was hurt.
About 2 p.m., the man arrived at the home in the 1900 block of North Orangewood Avenue arguing with someone on his cell phone outside the front door, police said. After ending the conversation, the man demanded that his mother open the door. She refused and he kicked the door open.

As she called police, the son yelled at her to hang up the phone. He kicked open another door inside and then grabbed the shotgun and pointed it at his mother.
The mother ran outside.
A police sergeant spoke with the man on the phone and persuaded him to surrender.
