Clovis man held in girlfriend's shooting death

A 52-year-old Clovis man was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend Saturday night, the Clovis Police Department said.

The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at an apartment on the 200 block of West Bullard Avenue in Clovis, authorities said.

Police said Charles Rector called 911 and told dispatchers that he and his girlfriend had gotten into a verbal argument, and his girlfriend had shot herself. Police said they found Rector outside the apartment with his grandson.

The victim was Kristina Baker, 44, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Sunday. Baker was found inside the apartment and transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she died, police spokeswoman Calli Biaggi said.

Rector was booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of murder.
