Vandals hit Clovis' Sierra Vista elementary

Clovis police are investigating vandalism at Sierra Vista Elementary School on Sunday evening.

A spokeswoman said that at least one person entered the multipurpose room in the school on the southwest corner of Barstow and Pollasky avenues about 8:30 p.m.

A glass trophy case was broken into and two trophies were smashed. Several fire extinguishers were used to blanket the room with chemicals and a fire alarm was pulled.

Police say physical damage to the room was minor but the cleanup would be extensive. The room was not available for use Monday.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact police at (559) 324-2800 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
