Teen joyride ends with SUV in Clovis home

A 16-year-old Clovis boy was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of drunken driving after he plowed a large SUV through a house, police said.

Officers arrived in the 400 block of West Menlo Avenue about 11:30 p.m. to find a Nissan Armada that had been driven through one wall and was protruding halfway through another, a police spokesman said.

Witnesses said three boys ran from the car after the crash. Officers checked the area and were able to round them up.

The unlicensed driver took the car without his parents' permission, the spokesman said. He lost control of the SUV while trying to take a turn at too high a speed.

The only person in the house was on the other side of the building and was not injured. After being booked by police, the driver was released to his parents.
