Anchor Blue closure hits 3 Valley stores

Anchor Blue announced this week it is closing all its stores, but will honor gift cards, customer returns and customer programs until Monday.

The teen clothing retailer has three stores in the central San Joaquin Valley: one each at Fashion Fair mall in Fresno, Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis and Visalia Mall.

Anchor Blue announced in 2009 that it was closing stores in Manchester Center and Hanford Mall during a previous bankruptcy.

The Corona-based retailer emerged from that bankruptcy and recently filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

It is liquidating all its stores, blaming declining sales and a "strong headwinds from product promotions and discounts offered by larger retailers."

The company has 117 stores, most in California.
