Buchanan wrestler's trial pushed to Jan. 27

The trial of a Buchanan High School wrestler accused of sexual battery has been delayed until Jan. 27.

Police have accused Preston Hill, 17, of pushing two fingers into a teammate's anus during wrestling practice in July. His attorneys contend Hill shouldn't have been charged because he performed a legitimate wrestling move taught by the high school's coaches.

Hill, a senior, has been suspended from school and is awaiting an expulsion hearing.

Because the case involves minors, Fresno County Superior Court Judge David Gottlieb has imposed a gag order that prevents lawyers in the criminal case from talking about it.

But Charles Magill, an attorney who represents Hill in his expulsion hearing, said Wednesday he plans to move forward with the hearing at Clovis Unified School District on Jan. 13.

He said he plans to subpoena coaches and other witnesses to testify.
