Robbery suspect arrested after Clovis standoff

Police arrested a robbery suspect after a standoff with a SWAT team Monday night at a Clovis home.

The suspect had barricaded himself inside a home near Barstow Avenue and Malio Drive after a 37-year-old Clovis man reportedly was beaten and robbed of his wallet Monday afternoon by four men, police said.

The victim was driven in his car to the area of Villa and Bullard avenues and abandoned.

An investigation led police to a home in the 100 block of Barstow Avenue, where one suspect refused to come out, police said.

After a two-hour standoff, a suspect walked out of the home.

Police believed there was at least one other suspect in the home. However, several hours later a SWAT team searched the home but did not find other suspects.

The victim was treated and released from Clovis Community Hospital on Monday evening.
