Clovis man sentenced in drug case

A 54-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison for selling OxyContin out of his Clovis apartment, police said.

The arrest of John Martinez, who was sentenced in Fresno County Superior Court, was part of a Clovis police operation that began last year targeting drug dealers and gang members in the area known as the Stanford Addition, police said.

The police surveillance was dubbed "Operation Ice Cream Man," because drug dealers drove through the neighborhood with music blaring -- similar to ice cream vendors -- selling drugs from their vehicles, police said. The Stanford Addition is bounded by Sunnyside, Escalon, Fowler and Bullard avenues.
