Stephanie Castro was appointed admissions coordinator of Horizon West Linwood Gardens skilled nursing facility in Visalia. Castro is responsible for the administrative aspect of admitting patients to the facility.

Carlene Estes was announced as the 2010 Employee of the Year by the Workforce Investment Board of Tulare County. Estes is a supervisor of the Porterville Employment Connection's training unit.

Valley Chrome Plating was honored by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control for taking steps to prevent pollution in the Clovis/Fresno area. The company implemented a "cleaner, greener way" to manufacture truck bumpers and truck accessories.

Vernon Crowder was appointed vice president and agricultural economist for Rabobank's Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory Group. Crowder will analyze and conduct market research on California agribusiness as well as the North American fresh fruit and produce sectors.

Dr. Michael Moffett of Cancer Care Associates was appointed to serve on the California Breast Cancer Research Council.

Dr. Jim W. Davis, professor clinical surgery, is the interim chief of surgery and program director at UCSF Fresno.

Renuka Patel was named market president for Central California by Union Bank N.A. Patel has more than 18 years of banking experience.

Patricia Harger was appointed vice president of business development for Saint Agnes Medical Center. Harger has knowledge and experience in health-care business planning.

Lucas Phan was recognized for outstanding customer service in September by US Mortgage Center.

David Dominguez, a Reedley College instructor, was selected to participate in "Ocho Poetas," a public event in Illinois featuring readings by eight of the country's most noted contemporary Latino poets.

Donations

BEST Agri-Marketing in Traver donated $10,000 to Alltech's Giving Kids a Chance program.

The Rotary Club of Fresno presented a check for $1,000 to the Leon S. Peters Legacy Endowment Project for preservation of Leon S. Peters papers and artifacts at the Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno.

New faces
