A Clovis man accused of fatally stabbing his 77-year-old mother is hospitalized in serious condition after an apparent fall or jump inside the Fresno County Jail, officials say.
Eric Tidrick, 49, was arrested Sept. 2 after Clovis police found his mother, Ladonna Tidrick, dead inside an apartment near Barstow and Villa avenues.
Assistant Sheriff Tom Gattie said Eric Tidrick was injured Sept. 9 at the jail. A report on the incident said a correctional officer saw Tidrick climb over a railing on one of the jail tiers, hang by his arms for a moment and then drop about 15 feet to a concrete floor. Tidrick landed on his feet and crumpled to the floor, Gattie said.
He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. It is unclear is why Tidrick climbed over the railing, Gattie said.
