Power was restored by 11 p.m. for all but 150 people in Clovis who were hit by an outage at 6:33 p.m., Pacific Gas & Electric Co. officials said.
The outage was caused by failed equipment and initially affected 1,986 people, spokeswoman Jana Morris said. Power was expected to be restored by 5 a.m. for the remaining customers.
Power went out between Sierra, Holland, Willow and Armstrong avenues, PG&E said.
