More than 200 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized in Clovis in the past week as part of a pre-holiday crackdown, officials said Saturday.
Police also arrested several people, although an exact count was not available, said Tim Lesmeister, a Clovis Fire Department engineer.
The fireworks were found in a variety of settings, including in people's cars and homes, Lesmeister said. In some cases, the fireworks were confiscated as people were igniting them, he said.
Patrols will continue through the weekend to enforce the city's zero-tolerance policy for having illegal fireworks, Lesmeister said.
