Dr. John R. Nelson, cardiologist at the California Cardiovascular Institute in Fresno, was elected to the board of directors of the National Lipid Association.

Natasha A. Sisneros of HealthCare California was certified as Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D).

PacWest Alliance Insurance Services achieved Gold Key designation. Tony Cabrera is the new Bank of the Sierra Fresno/Clovis area manager. Cabrera has more than 14 years of experience in the banking industry.

Debra Alviso of Fresno was reappointed to the Physical Therapy Board of California and Kenneth Clark of Springville was appointed associate director of reception center institutions for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Awards

Marian Hampton, RN, operating room nurse for Kaiser Permanente Fresno, was awarded a Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses.

BSK Associates received the California Geotechnical Engineering Association 2009-10 Large Project of the Year Award for geotechnical engineering and design services related to the new Minarets High School in O'Neals.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport was named the Outstanding Western-Pacific Airport by the Federal Aviation Administration for the significant contributions that have improved or enhanced safety in the Western-Pacific Region during the 2009 fiscal year.

The Yosemite/Mariposa County Tourism Bureau received the Best Visitors Guide-Print and the People's Choice for Best of Show honors from the California Travel and Tourism Commission.

New faces
