Fresno man arrested in Clovis stabbing

A Fresno man was arrested and charged with stabbing a co-worker in the hand late Saturday in a fight in the Sierra Vista Mall parking lot.

Clovis police said the 31-year-old was driving two other people home from a party when he became agitated and pulled into the mall parking lot. During a struggle, the driver said he planned to kill the victim by cutting his throat, police said. The victim's hand was cut as he tried to shield his neck from the driver's knife, and he also had a minor cut on his neck, police said.

The three left the scene before police arrived but were pulled over a few minutes later at Clovis and Barstow avenues. The driver was arrested and booked on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence. He is in Fresno County Jail.
