Local briefs: Rams men take third

The Fresno City men's basketball team made a season-high 15 3-pointers to beat Alan Hancock 98-65 and take third place in the Pepsi/Holiday Inn tournament in Visalia.

Alex Fletcher led the Rams with 14 points, and Early Jefferson added 11.

Fresno City (10-4) led 54-34 at the break.

- Monique Reed went off for 28 points to lead the Reedley women's basketball team to a 90-77 victory against Santa Monica and capture the championship of the San Mateo Tournament.

Reed was named the tournament MVP. Teammate Jodee McMillen added 12 points and made 4 of 5 3-pointers in the first half.

Reedley's Blair Scott, who scored seven points, was an all-tournament selection.

Sunbirds lose again

The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team dropped its fifth straight game Sunday after losing to William Jewell College 73-62 in the Las Vegas Hoopla.

The Sunbirds (1-8) received 13 points from Jessica Mazza.

The tournament featured teams from throughout the country.
