Poker contest, rummage sale to benefit Fresno Alano Club

The Alano Club of Fresno will hold a Texas Hold 'Em tournament at 6 p.m. today at 1350 N. 11th St. Buy-in costs $30. The club will also hold a rummage sale at 9 a.m. March 27 and 8 a.m. March 28-29 at 236 E. Cortland Ave.

Woodmen of the World Camp 961 will hold "Midnight Bowling" at 11:30 p.m. today at Cedar Lanes, 3131 N. Cedar Ave. Proceeds will benefit Valley Teen Ranch.

Mediation training to be held at Fresno Pacific

The Victim Offender Reconciliation Program of the Central Valley will hold a mediation training session 6:30-9:30 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday at Fresno Pacific University, Marpeck Center, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave.

First-time offenders are referred to the program where volunteers arrange mediation between offender and victim.

Cindy Sheehan to be at peace 'Rally in the Valley'

The Fresno Center for Nonviolence will hold the eighth annual "Rally in the Valley" 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Eaton Plaza, near the Water Tower, Fresno and N streets. This year's theme is "Peace! Let's Do It."

Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and syndicated columnist Roberto Rodriguez will speak. Music will be provided by the Raging Grannies.

Hoover High baseball team to benefit from dinner

The Hoover High School Diamond Club Dinner will be 7-11 p.m. today at Pardini's Restaurant, 2257 W. Shaw Ave. Proceeds benefit the Hoover High baseball team.

The club inductees will be Valley coaches Jack Hannah, Hal Froese and Buzz Nitschke. Tickets cost $40.

Low-cost cat spay/neuter services available to seniors

For a limited time, the H.O.P.E. Animal Foundation Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic will offer a discounted price to seniors 61 years and older on cat spay and neuter services.

Pet owners must show picture ID at the time of check-in. Limit two pets per person. The clinic is at 5490 W. Spruce Ave. The cost will be $25 for one cat.

Free hearing tests available

Fresno State's Communicative Disorders Department will hold free hearing evaluations at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, through April 30 in the Psychology Building.

The screenings will be done by graduate students.

Clovis High blood drive set

The Central California Blood Center will be at Clovis High School cafeteria 2-7 p.m. March 24 for the school's annual blood drive. The school is at 1055 Fowler Ave., Clovis. Details: (559) 906-5894.

'Crab Shack' to benefit developmentally disabled

LARCS will hold "Crab Shack" at 6 p.m. March 28 at International Catering, 4277 N. West Ave.

Proceeds will benefit the needs of developmentally disabled citizens through organizations such as Special Olympics, Break the Barriers and ARC Fresno.
