Six homes in the Coalinga area were issued evacuation orders Tuesday morning due to a fire west of the city. The Mineral Fire is burning near Highway 198 and Mineral Springs Road and has consumed about 800 acres and is 10 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
Fresno County Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said two families chose to evacuate after receiving the orders and four homeowners decided to remain on their property.
The Red Cross established a shelter for families in the gym of West Hills College at 300 West Cherry Lane.
