Interstate 5 lanes closed by big rig fire near Coalinga, CHP says

A tractor trailer that caught fire Tuesday in a collision near Coalinga led to lane closures at Interstate 5 and Highway 145, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The northbound interstate at Highway 145 in Coalinga was being detoured to Derrick Avenue as crews worked to reopen the lanes due to the collision.

Over 100 gallons of diesel spilled onto the roadway, CHP reports, but burned off when the rig caught fire around 10 a.m.

The driver, Seferino Agredano, 57, of Anaheim, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Adventist Medical Center. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
