Smoke will be visible in the Shaver Lake and Dinkey areas of the Sierra National Forest on Monday as part of a research experiment, the U.S. Forest Service said.
The High Sierra Ranger District will perform a planned fire treatment at the Kings River Experimental Watershed as part of the last phase of an experiment where different forest restoration treatments are compared to one another.
The burn will be coordinated with the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution in order to comply with air regulations.
Signs will be posted in the roadways near the burn site. Extra fire personnel and equipment will be used until the treatment is completed.
