City officials joined Fresno residents Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of Inspiration Park, a universally accessible recreation facility in west Fresno.
Inspiration Park is the first of its kind in the city, and offers a range of sports and recreation areas constructed to be accessible by all users. The park will include a universally accessible skate park, the first of its kind in the nation.
Joining Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Council Member Esmeralda Soria were members of Resources for Independent Living and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County.
Lunch was provided by the police and firefighters’ unions, and there were carnival games, musical performances, some organized sports and resource booths for residents to visit.
